Overview

Introducing the Pesado HD Espresso Shower Screen. This HD Espresso Shower Screen is designed for precision and consistency, eliminating the main issues causing irregular extractions.

Uneven water distribution has always been an issue when trying to achieve consistent extractions, this can be caused by the irregular water flow path through mesh shower screens, smaller surface area coverage and uneven puck infusion.

Utilizing 18 channels, this HD espresso shower can target the exact spots of every extraction, resulting in consistent water flow between every shot.

Combined with the unique feature of the outer channels running all the way to the edge of the espresso shower screen, controlling water flow to target the entire puck bed right to the basket edge, giving us complete control over our water diffusion for every shot.

How To Install

LM - HD Shower Screen: 

  1. Simply unscrew the shower screen screw.
  2. Remove the current shower screen and clean the group head.
  3. Then screw in the new HD shower screen

Make sure it is completely screwed in before use.

E61 - HD Shower Screen: 

  1. You're current E61 shower screen will not have a centre screw like our HD does, so first you need to pop out your current shower screen and seal.
  2. Unscrew the diffusion screw inside the group head. This is very easy to do, all you need is an m8 allen key.
  3. Then simply screw in our new HD diffusion screw which gives you the ability to screw in the new HD high diffusion shower screen to the diffusion plate.
  4. Then insert your gasket seal and use your portafilter to tighten the seal.

Make sure the HD shower screen is completely screwed in before use.

MV - HD Shower Screen:

  1. Simply unscrew the center shower screw on your shower screen, and detach the shower screen and diffusion plate together from the group head.
  2. Make sure to clean any residue on the group head before screwing in the new shower screen. We recommend doing a complete backflush before using new shower screen.
  3. Place the new 100% stainless steel diffusion plate against the new HD shower screen, making sure the indent on the diffusion plate is facing away from the shower screen.
  4. Screw in the new MVHD high diffusion shower screen and diffusion plate together using your current shower screw, and you are good to go!

Regular Water Flow

Regular espresso shower screens use a mesh to help distribute the water flow evenly, this does work quite well but unfortunately, it can result in uneven water distribution.This is due to the water gripping to the mesh, causing an irregular water flow every extraction.

High Diffusion Water Flow

The HD High Diffusion Espresso Shower Screen has been designed with channels to distribute the water flow exactly where we want it to be every time. Using this method allows us to hit the exact area we need to every extraction, distributing the water flow outwards across the entire puck bed, evenly. The HD Shower Screen also has a unique feature where the outer channels run all the way to the edge, allowing water to flow directly out the ends into the basket wall.

High Diffusion Puck Clearance

The HD Espresso Shower Screen is designed to target the entire surface area of the puck bed, consistently every extraction. Utilizing an 18-channel design that targets up to 58.35mm of surface area, we can target the same spots of the puck bed every shot. This creates consistent, precise water diffusion.

Regular mesh shower screens cause erratic water diffusion due to the water gripping to the mesh and flowing completely different paths every extraction. This creates variables every time you extract that you cannot control.

When using the HD espresso shower screen daily we recommend using a cleaning brush to keep the outer surface and channels free of coffee grounds.

Once a week we recommend a full clean, which involves unscrewing the shower screen and washing both the shower screen plate and screws under water. This will ensure no buildup, and a clean and consistent flow of water for every extraction.

The screen is much better than the my new Mara x3 screen. The order process was fraught with mistakes and disappointment. Wrong part for my Lelit sent. Gracefully send the adapter correct for e61. It comes twice. Once from china where the original kit comes from once from Oz. Both times missing the full kit. Support has been friendly enough but still can’t offer me the full kit final part and now negotiating a rebate for the metal adapter with buy my own thicker gasket. The service was very polite. But the actual delivery was chaotic.

Easy installation on my 2011 VBM duobar E61 grouphead. I also upgraded to a larger capacity portafilter basket from another company (22-24 grms capacity). I have been using the new portafilter/shower screen for about a month now. I think the new shower screen has cut down on channeling a lot. I have recently bought the E61 HD Shower Screen for my 2022 Rocket Cinquantotto. I am not happy about what the puck looks like, since I have installed this. The puck always shows six holes on the top. They don't go all the way through so this is no full channeling. But anyway, it does not look good. I have adjusted grind settings, but it does not get better than what is shown in the picture. Brewing ratio is constantly at 1:2.25. This is kind of ideal to me and very close to what it was before swapping to the HD shower screen. Have already checked the installation of the shower screen - everything is fine. Have installed a completely new gasket. Have also slightly turned the screen itself to change the position of the shower screen relative to the new group head screw that comes with it, but that does not change anything. I also notice, that the HD shower screen spills around a lot more when flushing than my previous shower screen. My impression is that the overall waterflow is a bit too high. All in all I am not very convinced of this setup. I cannot share all the positive feedback.

Running ECM Puristika w/flow control. Excellent addition to the coffee routine. Noticeable difference in water dispersement and saturation. Took a minute to dial in and adjust to the difference. Not sure you would need a dispersion screen with this, but due to keeping things clean I still use one. Considering removing the flow control and going back to stock as I haven’t been using it with the Pesado addition. One of the better upgrades that has noticeable difference in the cup and process. I think it’s an improvement over the original Izzo non-directed shower flow. Mine is an HX (single boiler) so the initial flushing of the e61 group will spit/splash. But the flow is well distributed in the portafilter, see attached photo of puck.
