Water dispersion is the foundation of great espresso. Get it wrong, and you increase the chance of channeling, weak, flavourless shots no matter how good your beans are. This kit tackles the problem at every stage of the shot, from pre-infusion through to extraction.
1. 51mm HD High Diffusion Shower Screen
18 integrated channels direct water to the exact same positions across the entire puck bed, every single time. During pre-infusion, when the puck is most vulnerable to uneven soaking, this consistent diffusion stops micro-channeling before it starts, before pressurisation exaggerates it into a ruined shot.
2. 51mm EP Electro Polished Filter Basket
Reduced friction means the liquid flows more freely through the basket and sides. The result: smoother, more consistent coffee flow and balanced, reliable shots, extraction that matches the even dispersion up top.
3. Free 0.2mm Contact Mesh
Sits on top of the puck to retain its structure, further reducing channeling and improving diffusion. Bonus: it keeps your HD shower screen cleaner for longer, so there's less maintenance between pulls.
Together, all three components work as a system, even dispersion, low-friction extraction, and puck protection, so every shot pulls the way it's supposed to: full-bodied, balanced, and repeatable.

Delonghi 51mm (51HD) Shower Screen Kit:
1) Simply unscrew the center shower screw on your shower screen, and detach the shower screen from the group head.
2) Make sure to clean any residue on the group head before screwing in the new shower screen. We recommend doing a complete backflush before using new shower screen.
3) Screw in the new 51HD high diffusion shower screen using your current shower screw, run a water cycle through to make sure it is connected correcly.
4) Replace your stock filter basket in your portafilter with our new 51mm Delonghi EP filter basket. You can now dose between 16-18g of coffee in this new EP filter basket.
5) When preparing your next coffee shot, simply place the new 0.2mm contact mesh on top of your coffee puck after you have tamped it. This will help protect the puck, increase diffusion across the puck and help reduce the cleaning needed on the shower screen.
6) Make sure you run a water cycle after every extraction, this will help release any coffee grounds that may have touched the shower screen.

Crafted entirely from stainless steel, with 18 targeted channels the NEW Pesado HD High Diffusion Shower Screen gives complete control over your water distribution, every extraction.
Regular espresso shower screens use a mesh to help distribute the water flow evenly, this does work quite well but unfortunately, it can result in uneven water distribution. This is due to the water gripping to the mesh, causing an irregular water flow every extraction.
The HD High Diffusion Espresso Shower Screen has been designed with channels to distribute the water flow exactly where we want it to be every time. Using this method allows us to hit the exact area we need to every extraction, distributing the water flow outwards across the entire puck bed, evenly. The HD Shower Screen also has a unique feature where the outer channels run all the way to the edge, allowing water to flow directly out the ends into the basket wall.
Delonghi 51mm shower screens are only designed to cover up to 40mm in diameter, leaving oer 10mm around the perimeter, resulting in a smaller surface area of about 20% less coverage. Utilizing the unique design of the water channels that run all the way to the edge of the shower screen, including the extended diameter of 51mm of surface area, we can target the entire puck bed all at once resulting in a full, and complete infusion.

The HD Shower Screen is designed to target the entire surface area of the puck bed, consistently every extraction. Utilizing an 18-channel design that targets up to 58.35mm of surface area, we can target the same spots of the puck bed every shot. This creates consistent, precise water diffusion.
Regular mesh shower screens cause erratic water diffusion due to the water gripping to the mesh and flowing completely different paths every extraction. This creates variables every time you extract that you cannot control.

When using the HD espresso shower screen daily we recommend using a cleaning brush to keep the outer surface and channels free of coffee grounds.
Once a week we recommend a full clean, which involves unscrewing the shower screen and washing both the shower screen plate and screws under water. This will ensure no buildup, and a clean and consistent flow of water for every extraction.

Not being a coffee expert, I can only say that my brew looks more syrupy. I’m not sure what to expect. I trust the process though. It’s nice to be having a properly brewed coffee at home. The crème seems thicker.

Been tracking this product for a long time and the moment a 51mm water screen was announced, i asked if this would be compatible with the SMEG espresso machine I have been buying upgrades for. I was told it wasn’t compatible but took a chance and bought one anyway!
When the product arrived, the packaging was impeccable! Very impressed with this product presentation!
I installed the water screen easily (1 screw) and turned on the machine… the even distribution “shower” of water was immediately seen. The part it replaced was different in form factor so can understand why this may been determined as not compatible, but it fit… didn’t spray/leak to the sides.
I pulled about 10 shots after installation and tried out different puck screens and baskets (pressurized and not) with my upgraded bottomless portafilter. The supplied puck screen that came with this product is super thin and by far my favorite of all the ones I have.
I will continue to watch for a fully “vetted” water screen for my SMEG, but so far, it seems to be working just fine.

Absolutely love the diffuser disc but the coffee basket doesn’t fit in the De Longhi basket holder as there is no ridge on the basket to fit securely in the basket holder .
I use a Delonghi 51mm espresso machine. I installed the shower screen without issue. My concern is the lack of a 12g basket for the bottomless portafilter. It is too deep for my distribution tools and tamper. It would be nice to have another option for a 12g shot

This was my first upgrade to my machine, what an upgrade! Very easy install and after only a few adjustments (I found I could make the grind significantly more fine) I was getting smooth coffees. The screen coupled with the basket makes it a much more refined experience with less mess.
Great upgrade this is an easy recommendation.

The coffee does seem to be better, and much better creme, BUT the basket does NOT properly fit in the La Specialista portafilter. There is a clip that interferes. Removing the clip makes the basket too loose. . Had I known this, In addition, there is a diverter that prevents the basket from sitting correctly. I would have purchased a different portafilter. There should be something on the product page that explains this.
Easy to install and works well. The large coffee basket didn’t fit so I dismantled the old one to make it fit. It extracted the coffee like a drip and was black and no creama . Otherwise all good.
Great product. I have an older Delognhi La Specialista machine and my portafilter has a tapered lower plastic insert that I had to remove with a little difficulty to fir the EP basket. It also took some trial and error to dial in for my coffee on the finest grind setting for.my machine. However I was able to make great coffee once through all these teething issues.
It seems the filter doesn’t fit well in the ports filter and falls out. And I’ve tried max grind and find all levels of fine and still puck is sloppy wet after extraction

I’m mainly purchased this for a ristretto, but it doesn’t really fit well with my current machine.
When I use the basket that was supplied with the filter, the machine actually can’t fill it up to extract a proper rest

The disc part installation was easy and that was good but the coffee basket didn't fit into the headpiece. Apparently I have the original Delonghi La Specialista and it has a plastic insert that prevents the basket to go in.
I did purchase a bottomless head piece where I could use your coffee basket but that leaks at the top so I'm going back to the original pressure unit minus using your coffee basket.
