Rule of thumb.

If it fits in your portafilter, it will fit in your machine.

Due to having a thickness of 1.1mm some may find it fits tightly on their coffee machine, but do not be discouraged - our filter basket design will keep your group seal lasting longer due to its rigid/flat structure.

Truly extracts at the next level. Far more complex flavor in the cup than with my VST basket. Only downside is the straight vertical walls make puck extraction quite challenging. Requires many “whacks” using a new technique to get the puck out. That’s the price to pay though for this type of basket.

The design is great, and both flow rate and extraction are quite stable. I originally thought this would become one of my go-to baskets. Unfortunately, the holes clog far too easily, and the buildup is almost impossible to clean. I’ve tried multiple methods but none were able to fully clear the blockage. Disappointing for an otherwise well-made piece of gear.

The High Extraction Filter basket is really effective at extracting more from my coffee. I had to go a little finer with my grinder to maintain the correct extraction ratio and that meant the water was in contact with more of the coffee. I'm really pleased with the result in the cup as it has improved the flavour profile of my coffee. Teamed up with the shower screen, I have a winning combination.

very interesting filter basket.Very high quality, thicker. More geared towards light roasts. I get amazing results when I use a higher ratio. 20 grams of coffee to 60 ml of water and more for 20 seconds. If you try to pull classic 1to2 ratio 25/30 sec you need to grind extremely fine and extract too much for my taste.

The Pesado Basket is a quality piece of kit. Very sturdy and solid, it took some time to get used to how snug it fits into my bottomless Portafilter. It also took a few shots to dial in the grind properly. My preferred shot is now 24g for +- 36 seconds to get 48g of espresso. Unlike my VST baskets, the shot comes out in a "shower" as opposed to a single stream given the very flat base of the basket. The result is now a very rich, concentrated brew which I am absolutely loving. Worth every cent to import it into South Africa from Australia.

I've got mixed feeling after two weeks, mainly because I'm struggling to dial this basket in AND get it to taste good. I'm using a Decent DE1 with a Versalab M4 grinder, and I've bought an 18g basket. This is an 18g basket, not an 18-20g basket, there's no room for a puck screen using an 18g dose Flow is faster, but a finer grind results in a bitter extraction. If I stop pre-infusion, I get good extraction pressures and flows on the Decent screen, but a thin and characterless shot. I'll persist, but I'm a bit mystified by this basket.

Wonderful basket! It really feels more substantial than other baskets. Very easy to dial in with because it allows for a finer grind, so less wasted beans! Feels premium, looks premium. The machining/lasering is precise and smooth. If you're an espresso enthusiast and want to try a higher end basket, start here!

I’ve retired my IMS precision basket, which I formerly loved, because the Pesado 58.5 basket is so freaking good! Back to back comparisons revealed that it extracts more flavor, deeper flavors, and the shots taste more balanced. Caveat: it doesn’t play well with many portafilter funnels. I initially tried to use it with my long-standing Decent magnetized funnel, and the funnel could not form a good seal over the top of the basket edge, which is angular and flat rather than rounded as are most baskets. It wasn’t until my new LAGOM P64 arrived with its own custom portafilter funnel (the Decent doesn’t fit on the P64) that I was able to use and enjoy the Pesado basket. The LAGOM funnel has a wider base and seats perfectly over the angular edge of the Pesado basket, so no more mess. Bottom line: the Pesado HE basket is brilliant and exceeded my expectations.
