The Wooden WDT Clump Crusher Tool brings together both function and character in one espresso-prep essential. Built to industry standards with a removable wooden leva end, this tool allows you to break up clumps, fluff the puck, and even out density, all before tamping.
With 45mm long, 0.3mm thick needles in an 8-needle setup, it reaches into the depth of the puck without over-disturbing the structure.
The wooden leva end adds warm visual appeal, creating a distinctive contrast to stainless metallic-finish tools while still delivering the high precision expected of Pesado.
It’s more than a tool, it’s an expression of style built for flavour.

Removable
Needle System
The removable needle system allows for easy maintenance and customization, each tool comes fitted with eight precision 0.3mm, 45mm needles that can be replaced individually, keeping your WDT performing like new without needing a full replacement.
Optimised 8-Needle Layoutfor Precision Distribution
The optimized spacing and pattern are tuned for the 53.5 mm and 58 mm baskets, allowing thorough redistribution of grounds without over-agitating the puck. This helps minimise channeling, improves flow uniformity, and supports higher, more repeatable extractions, especially with lighter roasts and single-dose workflows.
Sustainably Crafted
Leva End
The wooden leva end is crafted from sustainable birch wood, one of the most eco-friendly wooden options available on the market. Each piece is vacuum-dyed to achieve rich, long-lasting color and then finished with a protective wax coating that resists both heat and water, ensuring durability in daily use. Designed to match seamlessly with our wooden portafilter and tamper sets, it brings a natural, refined touch to your coffee station while staying true to Pesado’s commitment to performance and style.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Wooden Clump Crusher - WDT Distribution Tool
After grinding into your portafilter, use the WDT tool to gently stir through the puck in small circles and up-and-down motions. The goal is to break up clumps and even out density before you level and tamp. This helps reduce channeling and improves shot consistency.
Yes. The needle layout is designed to work effectively with both 53.5 mm (e.g. Breville) and 58 mm commercial baskets. You simply adjust your stirring pattern to cover the full puck surface.
No, when used correctly the 0.3 mm stainless needles are gentle enough not to damage your basket. Avoid pressing the needles hard against the metal and focus instead on moving through the coffee bed rather than scraping the basket walls.
With normal home or café use, the needles last a long time. You only need to replace them if they become visibly bent, dull, or damaged. The removable system lets you swap a single needle instead of replacing the entire tool.
Yes. WDT is for distribution, not compression. The Clump Crusher fluffs and evens out the puck; you should still follow up with a tamper to apply consistent pressure and lock in the coffee bed before extraction.

The clump crusher is a beautiful and well made WDT tool. Its shape is very practical and ergonomic, and paired with the stand, it`s safe (I`ve pricked myself on upward standing WDT tools a number of times) and easy to reach for when needed, while looking very nice when not in use (sitting on its stand). I got the replaceable needle system with mine, which has thinner needles, making placing the tool on the stand a little more difficult due to the needles bending easily and becoming misaligned. I have found that holding both the tool and stand in hand to be the easiest and most efficient way of placing the tool back on its stand. The stand does help in maintaining the alignment of the needles, and over time, the needles conform better to the stand, making returning the tool to its stand much easier. It`s a worthy investment, specially as an upgrade to existing cheaper WDT tools.

Yes this is a luxury, but it looks so much nicer than a handful of needles in a cork! It does a great job of distributing the bed and my shots are perfect.

This de-clumping tool looks beautiful on my bench top, and dose an excellent job of distributing and creating homogenised grounds before tamping. I'll be buying these as gifts for fellow espresso lovers. Would love if Pesado made a matching stand, or included a hidden handle magnet!

The handle is beautiful BUT, the tines could be a bit stiffer and also secured better. I’ve had tines pull out of the handle by snagging a pore in the portafilter basket I’m assuming.
I’ll find them sticking out of my grounds.
It looks great and well made with spare needles. It's probably waster on me as I don't notice any improvement over not using it. Maybe I should be less casual and take more notice.
Looks great, feels good in the hand, and in general I like it, but I find the thin needles tend to get stuck in the basket holes (pesado high extraction basket) if I'm not very careful.
I have the stand as well and the combo look great together.
